Know The Cause, informs the public that diet is linked to most illness. Doug Kaufmann believes yeast and fungus are the main culprits aiding disease. Yeast is the fungus used to ferment bread and make it double in size. It is no coincidence that the Jews have a leaven free week during Passover. They abstain from the use of yeast and were told to make sure all leaven (or yeast) was outside the house. (Exodus 12:15) Doug Kaufmann also explains that vegetables that contain antioxidants have anti fungal properties which rid the body of toxins. His main reference for this is "Gen 1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which [is] upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which [is] the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat."
Doug Kaufmann promotes the phase 1 diet for patients who suffer from all types of maladies. The phase 1 diet is a low carbohydrate intake. This eliminates grains, bread, peanuts and sugar from your diet. Eliminating these foods from your diet will begin the process of starving the fungus living in your body. Just as yeast needs sugar or alcohol to rise, so do the fungi to thrive and reproduce. Albeit grains were promoted in the Bible, they did not store them in silos as is common in today's society. The process of storing grains has contaminated the grains with fungi.
Doug Kaufmann also suggests eating meat that has not been contaminated with antibiotics. Antibiotics are commonly given to cattle along with grains to fatten the calf. He promotes the eating of grass fed cattle. He also alerts his audience on the farm raised salmon on the market. These salmon have colors added to them making them look natural for buyers in the market. Wild caught salmon are more natural with less or no additives.
